Health Insurance

Residents of Delaware are not required by law to have health insurance, but that doesn't mean it is a good idea to go without health insurance. The Charles Connolly Agency gives Delaware residents more choices. We are an independent insurance agency.

Choosing the right health insurance is not an easy task. There are many things to consider, and trying to reach the right balance between coverage and premium is not easy.

Questions you need to ask

Before you choose your health insurance policy, some critical questions must be asked. Your insurance agent will be able to help you to get the answers you need.

  • Is my doctor (dentist, optometrist, hospital, etc.) in the network?
  • What is the deductible on the policy?
  • Are my prescriptions in the formulary?
  • Do I have dental coverage?
  • What is the maximum I will pay for services yearly?

Types of policies available

Managed care is the type of health insurance available to most people. You can choose from three basic types of managed care: HMO, PPO, and POS.

  • HMO (Health Maintenance Organizations) This is the most restrictive type of managed care. To have it covered, you must have a primary care physician who works with your healthcare and receive service within the network.
  • PPO (Preferred Provider Organizations) You get the best rates within the network, but the payments will be made for services outside the network.
  • POS (Point of Service) These plans let you choose between HMO and PPO whenever you get service.

Having the right health insurance policy to ensure you can get the care you need is important to your health.
